ABOUT ME
I’m a therapist who has worked with queer and trans youth and adults for 10 years. I started my therapy career in community mental health, then moved to the group private practice of my dream - Wild Heart Society, started by Mackenzie Dunham.
I then moved to Vermont and opened an in-person therapy practice.
I became a therapist to work with queer people after recognizing the importance of your therapist having a shared lived experience. Now I’m a therapist because I couldn’t imagine it any other way. Queer and trans therapists are so important, especially for youth.
My background in counseling psychology, with a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark College (Portland, OR) combined with my interest in supporting queer/trans youth, has lead me here - to trans joy.
Here’s when Trans Joy Archives was started.
As some of you here might have experienced, I recently lost a teenager in my world - a bright, vibrant soul for whom I developed a sacred fondness. The bond felt similar to a sibling at times; we shared lived experiences and witnessed each other’s lives on walks down the tree-covered sidewalks. Her birthday was the day after the 2024 election, which would, in January, take away her right to access hormone care, for which she had already been receiving for over one year. Though she had a thriving and loving support network, she was too beautiful - this world wasn’t yet ready for her amount of beauty.
I wish I could’ve told her ten thousand times that she was beautiful - and cool - and perfectly colorful and vibrant.
I wish I could still tell her today. And because I can’t, I’ll tell you. If you’re a trans kid, I care about you. I’d give anything to protect you.
You’re beautiful and cool, and perfectly colorful and vibrant.
You make this place better.
